Prices on a dental marketplace: what the supplier decides

One of the first concerns of a dental supplier considering a marketplace is losing control over prices. It is a legitimate concern, and it deserves a precise answer: what you decide, what the platform calculates and what nobody controls.

You decide the price. On Oralzon you enter the price of each product excluding VAT, as is normal between professionals, and you can change it whenever you like from the dashboard or by updating your Excel price list.

You also decide the discounts. You can apply a percentage or fixed-amount reduction to one or more products, and the customer sees the discounted price next to the full price. You can create discount codes with a validity period, a minimum order amount and a maximum number of uses, useful for example for a first order or for the participants in one of your courses.

The platform, on the other hand, calculates three things, the same for all vendors. The first is VAT, according to the customer's country and the check of their EU VAT number. The second is the shipping cost, calculated on weight and destination and paid by the customer. The third is the 7% commission on the value of goods sold, deducted when the payment is transferred to you.

Precisely because the commission is a fixed, known percentage, it is easy to factor into your price. There are no hidden costs that change from one order to the next.

Then there is one thing nobody controls, and it is only fair to say so: competitors' prices. On the marketplace your products appear next to others, and the dentist can sort results by price. That is the condition of any open market.

It does not mean the lowest price always wins. With equal prices, what counts is the relevance of the product page, availability, reviews and clear information. A slightly higher price with a better product page and a product in stock often wins.

A practical tip to protect your margin: instead of lowering prices across your whole catalogue, use targeted, time-limited discounts on the products you want to make known. And keep prices aligned across your channels, so you do not put the marketplace in competition with your agents or your own shop.

If you want to see how prices, discounts and codes are set up in the dashboard, you can explore the vendor dashboard in a demo store, without signing up.

In short: you decide prices, discounts and discount codes, the platform calculates VAT, shipping and the fixed 7% commission, nobody controls competitors' prices, the lowest price does not always win, and your margin is protected with targeted discounts and prices aligned across channels.
